Product overview
A vortex flow meter measures how fast steam, gas, air or thin liquids move through a pipe. A bluff body across the flow sheds swirling vortices, and the shedding frequency rises in step with the velocity. The electronics count that frequency and show the flow rate.
With no moving parts to wear out, it is a common choice for boiler steam lines and compressed air headers.
Don’t confuse it with
A vortex meter is not a thermal mass meter or a turbine meter. It reports volume from vortex frequency; a thermal gas meter reads mass flow from heat transfer, and a turbine meter counts a spinning rotor.
