Product overview
An electromagnetic flow meter, or magmeter, measures the flow of electrically conductive liquids using Faraday’s law of induction. Coils create a magnetic field across the pipe, and electrodes pick up a voltage that rises with the liquid’s velocity.
There are no moving parts and nothing in the bore to clog, so it handles water, wastewater and sludge lines well — including the inlet and treated-water lines of an ETP.
Don’t confuse it with
A magmeter needs a conductive liquid and a pipe that runs full. For steam, gas and air, use a vortex meter; for diesel and oil, an oval gear meter; for open drains and flumes, an open channel meter.
