Water is only part of the environmental picture. Boilers, captive power generators and process stacks release smoke and gases that affect workers and neighbours alike.
What is measured
- Particulate matter (dust and soot)
- Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides
- Carbon monoxide
- Stack temperature and gas flow
Ambient air and noise
Besides the stack itself, monitoring often covers the air quality and noise levels around the site, especially for captive power plants and factories near homes.
Controlling emissions
- Burner tuning and regular maintenance of boilers and generators
- Cleaner fuels where possible
- Dust collectors, cyclones or scrubbers for specific processes
- Correct stack height so emissions disperse safely
Records for clearance renewal
Monitoring results are part of the reports submitted for environmental clearance renewal, particularly for captive power plants. Regular measurement also shows when equipment needs attention before it fails.
We arrange stack and ambient air monitoring and have secured clearance for more than twenty gas and diesel power plants.
